A Missionary Invading the Moon

A Missionary Invading the Moon

1945, oil/canvas, 40" x 30"

Gliding down on church-dome parachute, the overly zealous missionary drops in on the lunar orb. His "revelation" demands that he spread his teachings about the sinful, hence crucified, Eve, and about the helpless Jesus-puppet of his calling. The insect-spray-gun, dangling from his waist, contains a holy Bible, which -- in the case of recalcitrant moon-men -- can be used as extra persuasion for acceptance of his Word.
