1949, oil/canvas, 45" x 33"

Demi-god producers, directors, and performers create, in their celestial workshop high above the natural world, fantasies for mortal man. However, though the censor-serpent ravages his script, the screenwriter still clings to his high-flying trapeze. Toilet tissue film unravels into the background, passes through an outhouse projector -- that shines nothing on the screen -- and is finally grasped by a jester peering over the horizon. A second roll of toilet tissue film unravels from its holder along the viaduct wall. Other performers perform incredible feats, ignoring warning signs that signal a downturn, over the edge, to peace and serenity below.
